Photo scanning service

My elderly parents have an old photo album with about 300 photos. I was wondering if there is a professional service that might scan the lot for me? Many, but not all, of the prints have the negatives alongside them. Is there any difference in scanning the negatives rather than the prints? Better quality?

Anyway I don't want to buy a scanner as I don't have the room for it and I would never ever use it again! :) The aim is to get a 7" digital photo frame and display them.

Hi Kenny. I actually found an older post by you where you mentioned them before. You know your stuff so that's good enough for me. Anything else I should know? I suppose I take them all out of the album and sort them by size...would it be helpful to include the negatives too? Or would that just confuse things?

Besides that I suppose registered post is a must too!

Just to be clear - I'm not a 360dpi customer, but have seen the owner(?) offering great advice on this and other forums, and have posted the link based on that alone.

I am a happy customer and would recommend. Give Steve a call and he will advise on what is best for you to do re. the photos/negs.

Yeah I've sent them an email. I have to say I'm not impressed with the website though. Very irritating that the prices are all ex VAT. Probably showing my ignorance but I can never understand the reason for that.

    Has anyone used http://yourphotoscanned.com

    helloooooo

sorry you find my website irritating, its hard to make something that everyone likes, lots of customers complement me on it

as for the vat, the reason for it is most of my customers are trade customers, and they want everything ex vat

depending on what you want to use the scans for there are various options, and different ones will be worth using depending on what they are needed for

Is there anything I can do about photos that are stuck to the album's page? I don't think it's glue so that might be a plus. The album with all the important photos has them stuck to the page.

Surely there's some solution for this? It must have been common practice back in the day. Any way I can get the blighters to come off without tearing them and the album to bits? Thanks!

you could scan the images from the album pages without removing possibly,

the issue with this is its a more expensive process, as its very time consuming

the bulk scanning type services offered by me and other is cheaper because it takes a fraction of the time

but it still may be possible

taking them out of the album, if they have glue resude or anything on them, they will be rejected by the bulk scanner too

    hope this helps
