My name is Theresia and I am Dutch. I am looking for any kind of job. Does someone here has experience with working in a factory in Dublin? What kind of factories are there in Dublin?

Most factories are on the outskirts of the city. But in dublin it tends to be high value manufacturering eg pharmacetuals or electronic parts.

Since you are a Dutch speaker you are probably better trying a multinational like google or facebook. You can get a very good wage and looks of benefits and it isn't as soul destroying as production line work

Thank you hfallada :-) Yes, I am also trying to find a job as a Dutchspeaker, but untill now no success in that. I have worked for Hewlett Packard a few months. I am trying more options. Thanks for information.

Do you have any previous sales experience? If you do, you will probably find a job fairly soon. I know a Dutch speaker who got a job in eBay in Blanchardstown and a Portuguese speaker that got a decent job in Xbox/ Microsoft in Swords. Try telefonica in the IFSC

I would suggest that you register with agencies like Manpower and CPL if you haven't done so already. They supply many of the big companies like IBM, Google, HP etc

There is a large market for languages, mainly in service desk/customer care environments and you shouldn't have too much difficulty in picking something up. Although a premium is paid for languages in this area, in general they are entry level positions and won't yield particularly attractive salaries. They can be soul destroying as well.....

I see agency junior level positions on offer at €8.65 ph for a 39 hour week and nights at €10.64 ph. With the cost of living in Ireland the work involved in this would need to be very undemanding and routine and probably is but with high unemployment in Ireland this is what is on offer.

As mentioned before with Dutch and English language skills you would probably get a better rate of wage in customer support but this would be far from routine and people in the customer support industry find it very demanding and tiring emotionally.

The way things are going many factories are only offering short term contracts, you can make an ok wage but there is no job security.

You'll wither away on the production line. It's really for low-to no skill workers, or people just starting out after leaving school early. Even with no sales experience, you could find yourself in a sales job, so don't write them off. Bi-lingual can be an advantage, so keep your chin up.

Thanks all for your comments here! A lot to think about. I also have to improve me in interviewskills. Interviews are going different here then in the Netherlands.
