Ultegra 11/28 Cassette Spacer

I bought an Ultegra 11/28 cassette to replace the 105 12/25 that was on the bike. The wheels are Fulcrum Quattros and came with a spacer. The spacer with the cassette is less than 1mm thick. Do I need to use both or just the thicker one provided with the wheels. I currently have the cassette on with just the thicker fulcrum spacer and didnt bother with the shimano spacer and the cassette is perfectly tight with no play in it although there is quite a bit of chatter on big/big ring/cog so maybe the spacer would reduce this (I know your not supposed to cross chain but on my other 9apd tiagra bike I get no chatter on the same gear combo)

Stick with the original spacer as before. The cassette width should be the same regardless of the sprockets. That chatter could be an issue with the b screw. When the chain is on the innermost sprocket with the highest number of teeth, you need to make sure that the derailleur is low enough for the chain width to fit between the cassette and the top pulley of the derailleur.

Yeah that's what I figured and so just used the fulcrum spacer. The chatter is being caused by the chain rubbing on the edge of the bottom jockey wheel frame as the chain is at an angle. I dont think the cassette spacer will make any much difference although I might just stick it on to see if it would help.

10 speeds are pretty sensitive to cross chaining as it is, I can't see myself going to the 11 speed groups as it will be a nightmare of adjustment!

I played about with the limit screws but there isn't enough adjustment to prevent chatter on cross chaining so I guess it's best to avoid those gears (which is generally what I do) but there are times when chaining down gears on the rear and to the small ring on the front just isn't practical.
