Frequency of replacing brine in geothermal system

Just wondering does the brine in the outdoor part of a horizontal geothermal heating system need to be replaced at all or does it last indefinitely i.e. is it like oil on a car. My system is about 7 years on the go. The company I bought from is gone out of business so I cant ask them. Anyone have any knowledge on it.
