AppleCare+ now available in Ireland

    Problem with this is I can't see any standard Apple Care plans. And AFAIK this has to be purchased within 30 days of buying a new iPhone as opposed to the full year you have with the standard Apple Care plan.

    I think you have to ring them to get the standard AppleCare for iPhone.

    Previously US only, Irish iPhone owners can now purchase AppleCare+ for 99 euro. On top of standard AppleCare services it offers limited insurance: to cases of accidental damage.

    Subject to an excess of €69, so €168 for 2 years insurance (assuming a claim). I know there are other benefits too, but it looks pretty pricey as an insurance policy.

    I love how the page also talks about English law and Apple Retail Stores.

    TBH, I've bought many Apple products over the years and I've never had a single issue with one.

    I rang Apple today to buy the standard AppleCare for my 10 month old iPhone 5. It's no longer available and I don't qualify for the new AppleCare +. I think they should still sell the old AppleCare and don't understand why they don't.

    Just a few weeks ago they offered me normal Apple Care when I wrang about a faulty iPhone 5.

    They must have gotten rid of it when this came into effect.

    Yeah less than 2 weeks ago I got my iPhone 5 replaced and they asked me over the two phone calls did I want Apple Care. Does anybody know if a replacement iPhone would qualify since it's technically a new device.

    Are you talking about the Express Replacement Service? The €29 change and you get shipped a new iPhone first?

    I'm not sure, I had a 4 advance replaced a few years back by taking out AppleCare I think. Otherwise I was going to have to send it in and wait for it to arrive with them before they sent replacement?

    I was within my 1 year warranty that comes with the phone and I was able to take advantage of that Express Replacement if I wanted. Not sure what the out if warrnty situation is.

    Ah ok, I'm within 1 year in the 5 so will call up for the options..

    The reason I didn't opt for it was the fact my issue wasn't a known one and there was a chance the credit card hold of €900 (iPhone 5 - 64GB) wouldn't be returned if they decided I caused the damage. Too risky for me. I used a friends phone while I waited. Sent off on Monday and had a new phone delivered by Friday. Once they received the phone on the Wednesday it took only a few hours to diagnose and send out a replacement. I was happy and wasn't much of an inconvenience for me.

    AppleCare is still available to customers within the first year of purchase. Prices are still the same for the plan before the AppleCare+ came out today.

    The above poster said he rang and was told the standard AppleCare plan is no longer available and has been replaced by AppleCare+. It's also not on the website so I think it could be discontinued.

    Given that I work for Apple, it's still available. AppleCare+ is only available up to 30 days of purchase whereas AppleCare is available up to one year of purchase.

    Both can be purchased by calling Apple. The website is a bit misleading because we thought that the standard AppleCare was discontinued but that isn't the case.

    If I phone the apple sales will they be able to sell me the standard AppleCare? I rang yesterday and the lad I was talking to told me it was no longer available. Thanks for any advice.

    Looks like you can get Applecare + now if your phone is over 30 days old by phoning them and allowing them do diagnostics...

    They do it over the phone (I believe) with you by pinging your iPhone through an IP address & run a check. Basically to make sure it's not jailbroken I think.

    There's no way that Apple will allow +to be bought after 30 days. If you have got it consider yourself to be extremely lucky

    Applecare + is only available in the first 30 days of purchase.
    How to get AppleCare+
    Add it to your shopping basket during the checkout process when you purchase your new iPhone.
    Buy it within 30 days of your iPhone purchase. Your iPhone purchase date is the date we ship and charge you for your order:
    At an Apple Retail Store (requires inspection of your iPhone and proof of purchase)
    By calling (353) 1850 946 191 (requires you to run a remote diagnostic and provide proof of purchase). Your iPhone purchase date is the date we ship and charge you for your order.
