    The Specs are high,
Recommended Window 8, 8 GB RAM, 30 GB storage space and wow 3GB of VRAM

My PC has everything except the VRAM ( only 2).

I'm now going to have to upgrade the GPU next year :D:D

I wouldn't worry too much about not having 3GB VRAM, especially considering the recommended cards don't either have it either :p

3Gb of Vram seems excessive for normal HD resolutions. I'm still using a GTX590 which is only 1.5GB effective, had a look at some alpha benchmarks @ 1080p VHQ, GTX590's still pulling almost 60fps average, above the 770.

I'm going to try my hardest this time around to get into BF4 from the get go, played BF3 very rarely and didn't like it a fraction as much as I did BF2.

With this in mind, is a 3GB 7950 a better buy than the likes of a 2GB GTX 670 or 760?

It's better than those cards anyway.

GTX 670 2GB is what I have. There'll be new cards out in a few months so this just gives me an excuse to buy one. Even though I probably won't need too.

You'll probably be fine for 1080p for another while.

Feck, it's going to cost me €110 to play this game. €60 for the game + €50 to get BF4 Premium. There would be no point in getting the game without the premium. So, I think the 670 will have to do me for now.

Battlefield 4 is €40 here. Premium is also 40 euro on that site as well but you can wait until the second set of DLC is out before buying premium when I'd say it'll be cheaper.

your 670 is fine tbh the recommended is becomming more and more like what it needs to run at super high levels and AMD are paying for that 3GB to be displayed on the box as id imagine the new series of cards will have 3gb as standard on the top 2 tiers

BF4 is running the same engine as BF3 so it should be a massive grapical overhaul over it

and dont buy the "premium edition" of BF4 as from looking at it seems like a different version of the Limited Edition instead of being a season ticket

I'll see how my machine runs it. Currently running BF3 @1080p on an i3 and a 6870, with med-high settings but very little AA/AF. Beta will be a good indicator of how well my machine runs it but tbh I'm not that worried, I should be grand running low-med settings until I can afford a proper upgrade for my PC.

thats fine but ive seen some that state Premium that have 3 Battlepacks as opposed to the 6 that come with the limited

It will be more demanding on the gpu but not by much, however the Levelution (*vomits) mechanics should increase CPU usage

    I'd say Amazon is cheaper:

I might know someone who has the card you need !! 6GB VRAM:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,125 ✭✭✭game4it70

The whole 3gb Vram thing is a load of marketing crap.
Look at the minimum spec of 512mb!
Whats the odds that all the new AMD card have a min of 3gb Vram?

At normal resolutions the game will run perfectly fine with under 3gb imo.
If not they will lose a huge percentage of customers that run a "normal" gaming rig.

A post by a dev on the ea site states that the 3gig vram is only needed for 4k.

    Hello,

Unless you run at 4K you wont need 3GB. That 3GB VRAM needed if you running 3 monitors 4k you might only need 2....People that running resolutions higher than 1080p/1200p also need more then 3gb vram:smileyhappy: If you currently playing at 1920x1080 so I am sure 2GB will be fine for you, dont worry:smileyhappy:
