I've been self employed for a number of years and never received a welfare payment.
What happens if I go back to college, Am I entitled to a grant?
My self employed income is currently tiny - less than dole. Can I go to college, get a grant and also earn maybe 3 or 4k part time self employed while in college?

If your serious about it, you should go into a Citizens advice centre locally and find out from them

    Yes you probably could.

The grant is means assessed on your income for the previous year so if for example you apply in 2014 it will be assessed on 2013 income.

If your income is that low you probably will be eligible

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

If you have a partner or living with your parents, their income would have to be included also for 2012.
