A friend of mine said he saw a mink yesterday and I believe him ,it was behind a farm where there is fowl the farm is about 3/4 mile from the local river would this be strange to be so far from water? Ps don't know much about mink hence the question will be setting trap tomorrow .

Mink, otters, pine martens can all be confused with each other if it's a brief glimpse of a fast moving animal. Be careful you don't trap a protected species.

It will be a release trap so if its not a mink it will be released

Why catch a problem to release it to be a problem somewhere else??

Sorry mate I read that wrong. I thought you said you'd release the mink.

I'm pretty sure Otters and Pine Martens are both protected so killing them would be illegal....

If it's a Mink it can be disposed of.

*edit* never mind, you got it!

It wouldn't be awful strange to see a mink far away from the water, and more so if there is fowl there. leave the cage down and be patient.

Use latex gloves when baiting, cover the trap with branches or leaf's of some sort, keep the traps about 300 mtrs from each other if using more than 1 above all check daily ideal if you can check morning and evening, I have been catching them just before night fall, at the moment best of luck.
