The only issue here is a legal one,he shouldn't be on his own.
Will driving tester care how he got there, no.
Therein lies the confusion, by name Road Safety Authority, by action????????

My Aunt did her driving test last December in Ballina. The examiner knew her and knew she drove alone to the test centre. And did the test go ahead? You bet your ass it did. :pac:

So if you turn up on your own with your own car, they can refuse to do your test?!

When I did my test no one in the room had an accompanied driver sitting with them. 30 minutes later we were all leaving with our certificates of competency. That's not to say the accompanied drivers didn't just walk off to the local shopping centre once they arrived. The tester can't and doesn't want to know. Test of your driving and adherece to the RoTR begins once your name is called.

I asked my instructor about this and he says that the driving tester does not care if you drive to the test alone.

But if you encounter the Gardaí on your way there it could be a different story.

Slap on the wrist and a chance of an average €100 fine. Complete joke of a system. Don't wear your seat belt 2 penalty points, an insurance hike and €80 fine. Pass an electronic test and set behind the wheel unaccompanied with no training be grand. Seems a bit silly when you think of it but thats life. Much prefer to meet an oncoming driver with no belt on than a learner on their own. More likely Ill need my belt with the learner  Not much the guards can do easily apart from issuing a summons and if the driver has their full licence by the court date the judge would probably go easy on them.

How you get to the center is not part of their remit!

A driving tester is exactly that. They are there to check the basic road worthiness of your car, that you are displaying the relevant items, your knowledge and driving ability.

That's it. No more, no less.
