Decent White Doors/Skirting?

Can anyone advise me on how to get a decent look finish to white/off white carpentry?

It's a finish you see all the time in American interiors, but white deal and primed doors etc just don't seem to look as good here.

Did you try DIY section also? Might get something there.

Good quality brush and white satin wood

If its raw, prime with BIN primer, this will prevent knots bleeding and staining the finish. Fill all defects/nailholes and caulk the gap on top.
Lightly sand and undercoat, another light sanding and apply coat of gloss, (do not thin). For a top finish, sand again and gloss again.

I think I'll be getting someone else to do it so!

    Thanks for the replies.

    I did.
It's all a bit technical for me.
I think I'll leave it to the professionals.
