Lads, all of sudden the sound has gone on my saorview channels? Working fine for 10 months. It's a newish Samsung TV with a built in receiver. Any ideas? UK channels all working fine. Very annoying, I've retuned the channels but no joy. Other Samsung TV downstairs has the Irish channels no problem. I am in north county Dublin if that makes a difference.

    Thanks

Yep that worked, thanks much appreciated. The broadcast audio was set to "A.D. Premix" whatever that is. No idea how it was changed. I'll blame the kids.

Hello - how do you make sure Audio Description is not turned on?

I have an August DVB-T205 stick (from Amazon) for my computer and get perfect video but no audio. I used to get audio consistently but sometime around very end of Jan or early Feb it stopped. I am near 3-Rock transmitter in South Dublin.

I thought it was the aerial the tip of which had broken off so I bought a new one (August DTA260) but can't get sound with either of them.

What software are you using to watch DTT?

Should be an option under Sound or Audio Channel settings. Might be under the Language selection also.

    Hi,

Can you get HD channels with the August DVB-T205 stick ?

I am going to France during the summer and I am wondering if it's worth buying one of these to watch the World Cup.

    Thanks.

Have never used one but according to the spec it has the necessary MPEG-4/H.265 video decoder required for Saorview.

The stick would not have the MPEG decoder - the supplied software, running on Windows does the HD decoding.

Indeed it's been very many years since even PC cards had a HW MPEG decoder (MPEG1 & MPEG2). No USB stick does anything more than pass the MPEG Transport stream to a PC. It's all done in a mix of CPU SW and the GPU (graphics card). Most PCs would struggle to do H264 HD without a suitable graphics card GPU. On tablets and Mobiles all the MPEG stuff is decoded by GPU.

Just registered to start a thread on the same issue.

Same as OP, we have Samsung 6800 which has been working fine.
Today no sound on the Saorview channels, and solved by changing language from "Ad Premix" to English. However lost sound again each time the channel was changed.

Thanks to STB for the fix -- setting the Audio Description to OFF has solved this. There is no way this was changed by me though, so I assume its a Samsung bug.
