Hi everyone, I'm getting married next month and my partner and I would like a cake made from cheese.
Can anyone recomend a good & reasonably priced cheesemonger in the Cork area?
    Thanks.

    Yummy idea!

The pigs back are in the english market and in douglas.

Iagos in the market as well.

Those two would be the best I'd say.

You could also go to small local cheese producers, but wouldn't get as much variety. Those two both sell the local cheeses too.

    Enjoy!

Marks and Spencer Cheese Celebration Cake (they should deliver to Ireland, not sure what the cost might be)

I think they'll only deliver to one of their stores in Northern Ireland.

We found it hard to get a price or ideas from the places mentioned above so I contacted our hotel with some pictures of 'cheese cakes' we liked the look of. The wedding co-ordinator asked the chef would he put together something for us. We then had a chat about the most suitable cheeses and our preferences. The result was amazing! We got a 5 layer cake decorated with sprigs of wild flowers and grapes and served on a beautiful old fashioned cake stand for €300-400(closer to 3 I think) and had it served as part of the evening food. The only drawback with it was that as we only sorted it a couple of weeks before the wedding we had no idea what it was going to look like until we arrived at the hotel the on our wedding day. They didn't let us down though. Maybe have a chat with your hotel?

Never even heard of this being done until now. suddenly I'm VERY interested. I'm way more into savoury than sweet; not sure i could convince wifey to be to replace it entierly with cheese, but could maybe sneak it in as well.
Do you have any photos by any chance?
Out of curiosity what kind of cheeses did you go with, did you manage to get a large selection in?

I think we're going to go with Sheridans
    http://www.sheridanscheesemongers.com/wedding-cheesecakes/
It will be used as the evening snack inconjunction with some nice breads and chutneys and crackers.

    Looks nice! Pass the crackers.

    Will they deliver to cork?

I dont think they deliver to Cork.
They have a shop in Ardkeen in Waterford.
We're getting married in Wicklow so I'll collect from their Dublin shop.

Here you go DavyD. Neither of us are really into cake so the cheese thing suited us down to the ground. It was served with breads and crackers as part of the evening food. We also bought a single layer of iced fruit cake to keep the older contingent happy. I can't remember all the cheeses but there was definitely brie, gubeen and cashel blue used.
