VTOS versus SUSI grant?

I have been offered the VTOS grant. It means my registration fees are paid for and I get a weekly allowance of E20. Does anyone know if I'd be better off on the SUSI grant. Does anyone know what the SUSI grant covers?

    Cheers in advance.

It depends on a lot of things

What age are you? how much do you get currently from social welfare? how far away do you live from the college?

There are 10 different rates of maintenance you get on a susi grant and it is means assessed.

Assuming you get 188 plus 20 per week on VTOS that gives you on roughly 35 weeks 7200 euro whereas with susi the max would be 5900

    Non adjacent adjacent
    Special rate €5,915 €2,375
    Full Maintenance €3,025 €1,215
    Part maintenance (75%) €2,270 €910
    Part maintenance (50%) €1,515 €605
    Part maintenance (25%) €755 €305

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

so with the susi grant you dont need to be on benefits, also, as a quick question, when normally does the susi grant become awarded,, im waiting on it, i registered in my college today and between rent, security deposit etc. im becoming nervous i'll run out of money before i get the grant.

No - you don't need to be on benefits

It's hard to say when you will get paid I think it should
