I don't mean to have a poke. would it not have been wise to have the full job priced out before boring a 200ft well.

I don't know about the price but a fellow I know has a similar setup for the electric fence.
He has an old shed basically falling down. White box on the wall meter inside and a square pin plug . He keeps his electric fence inside the box too

submersiable pump - you won't need a pump house at all!

Would ya not have to put the vessel in a pumphouse and I think for a ESB connection ya need some sort of permanent structure do a generator might do the job for while

The submersiable pump doesn't need a vessel over the well. It could be in a shed or anywhere along the water line. Can't you get a connection for a single unmetered load less than 2 kVA ??

    See here:

    http://www.esb.ie/esbnetworks/en/business-customers/unmetered_connections/single_unmetered.jsp

Meter just needs to be in a cabinet!

Might be way off , but could you stick up a few solar panels to power a submersible pump ...? If you're a distance from an esb line and gonna get well charged for a connection...
Dunno who or where you'd get them, or a quote but google would ... :)
Actually you could ask on the sustainability and environmental forum,
Someone there bound to know more and have a Ballpark cost...

if you had a 1000 gallon tank set up in place, would a gravity flow system work for you? if so, then a small generator to run a submersable pump might be the handyiest outfit.

yeah i'd agree with you there. i have mentioned this before but some people would perfer to go around robbing generators. if you have a building on site near the well you can put the control box and pressure tank into it, and also a generator. if fellas want to smash down a door to steal a generator there isnt a whole lot you can do.

i know of a few lads that do this. they have petrol genertor and a few ibc tanks. when they call up to check the cattle they would start the genertor and this will fill the tanks and ibc's. they would either turn off the genertor when leaving or else have ann auto matic shut off that will turn the geneator off whenteh tanks are full.

what are you doing for the fencer? are you using a battary or solar panel?

or if you just need to fill up a storage tank once a week or so, you Will soon learn how much fuel to put into the generator to fill your storage tank. and you leave it to run the fuel tank dry, otherwise you could use afloat switch.this is only if your well is good enough to fill your tank in one go .

soemtimes you can have a bit of silt in the water from the well. when we started using the well 1st it the water was full of silt. Filled up the genertor and let it pump away for the day, left the water off down accross the rows of spuds in the fields next to the well

Solar panel pump from Connacht Agri costs Eur1300. They claim that it will pump on dull days as well as sunny.

I got a park side one in lidl last year for €120. Have been very happy with it, used it a good few times when building the house. Drove the water pump no problem.

Jeez at that kind of money you couldn't complain. Alot cheaper than a new leci connection and I'd imagine petrol usage would be cheaper than the monthly leci bill.

Yea bought one of them generators as well it was a power craft aldi or lido same story for building a house got plenty of abuse every lad using it and never let me down and if it was robbed out of pumphouse wouldn't be end of world

we had a issue with brown silt in the water when the hole was 1st dug, the plumber said it was common enough but would be worth runiing it for a few hours to flush the system. over a couple of days we worked it out that a full tank of petrol will run the pump for about 24 hours.

this is the yoke, keep an eye out for offers in teh local store i got mine durign a sale when they knocked a fair bit of the price.
