    Hi All

I am fairly new at boards.ie so please forgive me if I mess up,

I am starting a new Fancy pantsy job in Dublin as a trainee accountant.

I am from Cavan, working in Dundalk so, my "work fashion sense" isnt amazing, :(

I could come to work in my current job in trackkie bottoms & nobody would care! (I never would)

I want to make a really really good impression in this new job, so I need advice badly, Where should I shop for the new job? Zara? Topshop?

i Will spend about 500euro on a new work wardrobe but any tips at all as to what you think I should wear would be super!

Also, This job has opportunities for me to travel (My main goal) So This is why it is so important that they like me & I think dressing well & being presentable is half the battle!!

    Thanks so much xx

Shop in a variety of shops. I hate when someone dress head to toe in one brand or from one shop. Zara, Topshop, Oasis, A-Wear etc are good. Buy a few blazers, top/blouses, skirts and trousers.

What is you usual style? What size and shape are you? What age are you?

Warehouse is usually good for shift dresses. Mango do good jackets and skirts, I'm not sold on their trousers. Next can be handy and Promod is another decent brand. For me tailored pieces work best. They look a bit formal. I would definitely buy a shift dress, pencil skirt or two, decent blazer, a pair of trousers or two. Longer length works with more shoes and blazers than cropped ones. Couple of knitted or thicker tops and good white blouse (get some other colours if you have money left over). Decent pair of shoes or two, avoid plastic because you will spend a lot of time in them.

    Hi Mood,

I am a size 6 to 8, & 5ft 4, but pair shaped as in I have not much of a chest at all.

My usual style in general is floral dresses cardi's, & pumps, or jeans & blazers, Its fairly boring to be honest.

I went to a personal stylist in Blanch one time, (For my birthday as a treat) & it was a disaster she put me in hot pink & I am really pale with brown hair. Never again, so dont suggest that! :)

My age I am the big 26.

I think a mixture between Zara, Warehouse, Topshop and a few flourishes from Forever 21 would be good.

Be aware that they might do casual Friday so have a couple of office to bar outfits ready.

I find with Zara their blazers are amazing but their trousers are big fitting? No?

I never shopped in Warehouse, but Topshop is nice for tops,

I Dont know about pencil skirts either as I am a bit pear shaped, Ahhh :( I am dreading this shopping trip.

How many pieces should I aim to buy?

I was thinking Myself Tapered black trousers, Tapered grey trousers, cream also maybe? (Tight at the bottom as they suit me)

a few Blouses/tops, shirts. A possible shift dress or two, & a nice work skirt maybe A-line, or if it has to be pencil I will do that.

Would love to pay someone to buy it all for me & then I would just have to wear it!

Tapered trousers, while they look great, are very fashionable at the moment, and may go out of fashion quickly.

For work, I am definitely a dress/skirt girl. I don't think pants suit me so I don't buy. In such a shopping trip, my wardrobe would be 2-3 shift dresses, 2-3 A-line/pencil skirts, some shell tops in bright colours but good fabric, 1-2 jackets (with bracelet sleeves for typing) and 1-2 cardigans. Some flat shoes, and nice mid-height leather heels. Don't forget that it's coming up to winter so a good coat and maybe smart boots could be factored in?

I don't buy shirts as they have a habit of gaping open or coming untucked at times. I prefer clothing I put on and don't worry about.

I think there are other threads about office wear so maybe do a search to get other ideas.
