Positive Career Options - do you rate this company or another

    Hi all,

I'm (thankfully) in a good job i.e. secure and pays well enough but I am so bored by it. I've been feeling this way for a while and really feel the need to change things up.
My problem is that I have a skill set that is in theory very transferrable to another job yet I'm not sure how to sell that or myself. I'm not an IT person or an engineer or such like so its difficult enough to know what to move to or how to move.
I was thinking of investing some money in getting help or advice around this and trying to identify areas in which my skills would be useful. I see the Positive Career Options website offers some training courses or one on one sessions and I was wondering if anyone here has any comments, good or bad about them. Indeed if anyone can offer any other suggestions I'd be delighted.

ETC Consult in Dublin are one of the long established experts in the field of psychometrics and career guidance. Have used them several times.

Thanks for that. I logged onto their site and they do seem to be what I'm looking for. How much (even ball park will be fine) did they cost?

I think their rates start at around €60 an hour, but they will do a personalised package based on your needs. Drop them an email. They are very helpful.

€60 per hour is reasonable. When you think about it that is an investment in yourself and your career.
    Will email them, thanks again.

I made an appointment with ETC today so feel really good that I've taken the first step towards taking charge of my career. Thanks for the tip.

As an update on pricing the charge €150 for a 90 minute session. I'm ok with that, I'd buy a pair of shoes and not think twice (other than what I'd wear them with) but this is an investment in yourself and work where you do spend quite a bit of time after all.

Good to hear, hope it is of some use to you. Your positive attitude will take you places.

Fingers crossed:) The funny thing is I'm more than eager to work hard, I get quite the buzz from it and seeing things happens as a result and all that stuff. Whats killing me now is a lack of motivation / boredom and it weighs heavily.
I'm really hopeful that with some direction and having an impartial person involved I'll see the wood for the trees and get sorted.

Little bump to the thread to say thank you so much Vologda69! I had my session with ETC yesterday and found them and the session to be so much help in terms of helping me to focus on various things that I was struggling with and to help reinvigorate my appetite and interest in my career.
For anyone who is floundering I cannot recommend them enough. Money well spent.

Good to hear. They always came across as very knowledgeable and professional to me. They might not be the cheapest, but I found them to be much more engaged with their clients than some others. Best of luck with everything.
