Wheel tracking

I had two tyres replaced on my ford focus yesterday. The inside of the tyres were worn. I got these tyres new last spring. The garage told me that the tracking was off. This is not the first time this has happened. Is there anything I can do to prevent a recurrance.

    Get the tracking done?

I am returning to the garage tomorrow to have tracking done. They told me it was the state of our roads and that fords are susceptible to tracking issues. But I do not want to be back in 6 months after paying for new tyres.

Get the tracking done and take it handy over bumps and potholes, all will be grand then

All cars suffer from tracking issues at sone point lamping your car through pot holes, patking with wheels pressed against a kerb will set it off or even bend track rods.
Drive with wheel dead centred. If the car pulls to one side your tracking is off

Curious to know what |I should be paying for tracking, im having a wishbone bushing replaced on a Golf mk4 and need the tracking done too.

Is 130 euros too much for both jobs?

Can be more complex than that too; too much toe in or out and uneven wear can result. Car may not pull to one side but straight line steering can be vague.

No. Usually 45 - 75 euro for laser wheel alignment alone. Takes a bit of time to do.

If the tracking needs to be done regularly there may be a underlying problem with wishbone balljoints or bushings. It can be missed during wheel alignment.

I had a wheels realined twice within the same year before the wishbone was discovered to have worn bushing.

30 is very cheap especially if its the most you've paid.. I pay 45 euro here in galway city. It depends on the car too. Some are more straightforward than others to do.

    Cork city 25-30.

And 30 is the computer tracking. Each wheel sends a signal back and tells you what to change

I just got the bill from my mechanic to replace inner tie rod and he brought it for laser wheel alignment after, parts and labour all in. €85. Alignment should not cost more than €30 IMO but a local mechanic probably gets a better rate than Joe Soap walking in.

I love being from the sticks.

30euro in Hannover tyres in Waterford City iv been getting it done there for years and 30 is the most iv ever paid.

The most recent cars iv had it done have been a Mondeo and a BMW and both have been the same price.

OP on our current roads you can expect tracking to be required at least once a year Im afraid. Sometimes more. I heard before fords were a little more susceptible to tracking. Renaults are very susceptible. To be honest though, every car will be put out of line by a pothole big enough to put a foot ball into. Ran an experiment on an old car and hit one such hole. Tracked beforehand, to a toe in of 5minutes. Toed out 1degree and 30minutes afterwards. Wheel and tyre were ok though.
Just another joy of Irish motoring:(
