    Hi all,

Was just looking to get some feedback from people on how much I could expect to pay for a new Flywheel and clutch on an Audi A3 2006 1.9TDI?

Have been told by a main dealer that the flywheel needs to be changed but Im not paying main dealer prices for the repairs. Am in the Limerick area so if anyone could recommend a reliable mechanic in the area also id appreciate it

€750 should cover it. That would be for Sachs or Luk parts, labour and VAT. Parts included should be:

    Dual mass flywheel
    Three part clutch kit
    New gearbox oil

There are cheap solid flywheel conversion kits available but I wouldn't recommend them to be honest.

Thanks a lot. Appreciate the response. Are you familiar with this work on Audis?

Yes we see them a lot. It isn't just confined to Audi/VW, pretty much every modern diesel car suffers the same problem.

Looking on the bright side the kit is cheap to buy and easy to change in the 1.9TDI 5 speeds so consequently the job is cheaper to do on your car than with most others.

Cheers,do you reckon 750 is probably the best I can be hoping for price wise?

If you source the kit at the right price yourself and get a lad to fit it on a cash/nixer basis you may get it done cheaper but I doubt you will get much change out of €750 if you get a garage to do it and give you an invoice for the work.

No problem at all. How much did the main dealer want for the job, just out of interest?

A relative of mine had clutch & flywheel replaced on his Opel Vectra -> €1200
I had them replaced on my Pug 407 -> €1200

I'd be delighted with €750 tbh.

Mine wasn't main dealer, not sure who my relative went to.
