FAS or Social Welfare Grant for barbering course?

    Hi

    I would like to be a barber, however 1900 euro is very expensive for me to pay at the moment, I have Jobseeker Benefit, and my question is there any possibles that fas could cover the course? ( the course is not from fas, knights barbers do, however they said that FAS grants are ok for them), any ideas? maybe BTEA? BTEA should cover the course if I would pay 150 euro per week for attending course ,please help lads !

    I dont really what kind of intership fas can offer without my experiance as barber?

    Yes

    FAS or the LES can sometimes give you what is called a TESG grant but the course has to be a recognised qualification e.g. FETAC level 5 or 6.

    I don't think btea is an option.

    It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

    They can only give a grant if I will attend on fetac level course? The barber course dosent count?

    For the TESG grant yes - it has to be certified. Is it a fetac course?

    Level 2 Certificate in Barbering from VTCT. This is equivalent to a Level 4 NFQ award.

    So it might be eligible - you need to ask Fas

    Hi igor i was in with fas yesterday and the max that they give towards any course is 500euro.
