I'm concerned about a crack in my driveway which seems to run under the house at the front porch. Anything to worry about?

More than likely a contraction/shrinkage cracking. How long is the concrete down? when did you notice the cracks?

I'm nor sure how long it's down but the house was built in the 70s, we moved in end of last year and cracks always been there.

I doubt its anything to worry about. It doesn't run under the house. Concrete stops at the external wall. Get an engineer or building surveyor out to have a look if you are very worried for piece of mind.

We had a surveyor look over the house before we bought it and he never mentioned it.

When you say concrete stops at the external wall? Our ground floor is also concrete.

I'm no structural engineer BUT the external concrete path/drive has nothing to do with your house. relax if thats the extent of crack after 40years, imho i'd say your ok;)

Looking at the photo, it would seem that the crack was caused by stress in the concrete because the joint should have continued across the path. It's not going to structurally affect the building. You could cut the joint now, remove the cracked bit, square off the jagged piece and replace it with a little bit of fresh concrete.

Leaking roof for one thing! Which seemingly I can't get a roofer for love nor money.

Thanks for the advice lads. Just got the house at the end of last year and finding more and more issues...
