    Hi,

We have broadband from 3 through the national broadband scheme.

The modem has stopped working and 3 won't supply a new one without charging for it.

Is this standard practice. I have never run into this this situation with any other broadband provider they also provide a new modem if required but this is mostly with fixed line.

They said I can cancel and start a new contract with them but this seems like a huge amount of hassle.

    Deu

Your dealing with 3 so nothing is free. They have this thing about locking customers into contracts I'm sure its some bean counting they have to do to keep their Chinese lords and masters happy.

If you want the hassle you can send them in a formal complaint asking for the dongle to be replaced under our consumer laws which don't limit the time the item should last to the 12 months that 3 say is all you have and then when they do nothing go to the small claims court, takes about 3-4 months and cost about 25 euro so probably better to just buy a new dongle.

Get one on 3Pay (prepay) and stick your NBS SIM it and it will work fine (well as good as 3's crappy NBS service can work).
