Do my test in Dublin or local hometown?

10 years go, I bought my first car and was driving in my local town. I did the test twice and failed.
when I moved to Dublin, I got rid of the car and have been using public transport since. I need to get driving now for work and don't know where to do the test. I am apprehensive about driving in the city and am worried about the test routes as I have no experience driving up here.
will I be better off doing it down home even though I failed it there or try a test centre up here?
also if anyone can recommend a driving instructor in south city with a good first time pass rate, I would appreciate it.
