    Hi,

Can anyone recommend how best to prepare for subbing in Infant classes? I'm a newly qualified primary teacher.
(I am secondary trained so am more comfortable with older classes.
I enjoy teaching the Junior classes also but don't have the ability to work off the cuff as much if you get me)
Is it just a case of me preparing a list of work/songs/games based on the Autumn theme say?

I know it's encouraged for teachers to have worked prepared if they're absent but I understand that this is not always the case.

Any advice to ease my worries?
What do teachers of infant classes want from a sub if absent?
    Thanks

If I only have a sub in my class for a day or 2 all I really want you to do is keep the children happy and occupied. Most teachers that I have talked to have the same opinion.

A few ideas for infant classes
    -rhymes, poems
-story book-chat about the story, draw pictures or write sentences
    -a few maths games, counting
-something about a squirrel, hedgehog or autumn
    -a nice colouring sheet
-a set of irish pictures on me fein and teach the words, play games
    -irish dán
-maybe a nature walk for some leaf rubbings if you are feeling adventurous.
