Problems with 05 Nissan Micra

Hi just wondering has anybody else had any problems with 05 Micra SX, if had mine the past 4 years and out of 3 of them I have had nothing but trouble!!
At first it was the car not starting on cold morning and having to get a push.
Then my power steering light came on and the steering got heavy I turned the car off then back on was fine.
A month after that when I was driving down the road the PS went all together went to a garage and had to get a new PS pump which took 2 months to fix after the garage lost the part.

My airbag light came on for no reason and my horn wouldn't work turned out a connection was lose.
Then I got a recall on it can't remember what it was for.
Last year my window wipers just stopped working got them fixed. My battery went dead which I had to get a new one might I add this is my 2nd new battery in 3 years!

Brought it for a service Thursday and got told I need yet another new battery (even after 2nd battery went in was having trouble starting car on cold mornings) so yesterday Sunday went to drive the car and the car was very sluggish like there was no power in it what so ever I couldn't even get the thing past 20mph this happened the Monday before but this time it wouldn't move for a second and just cut out!

I would like to know has anybody had all this trouble with their car? Also got another letter last week for another recall - this time on the steering!!
I'm thinking 1 recall is bad but 2 recalls now that's very bad!!

Hi ask a mod to move this to motors you are in car detailing also leave a few line spaces it's really difficult to read.

Nissan and Renault have been mixing parts for years now as Renault took over.

The pre 02 were great cars anything after are quite bad.
You are lucky that is all that happened because they give huge timing chain trouble and the recall you had was probably for the boot lock.

If you have had so much trouble why do you keep buying? Ypu said 3rd you have had trouble with.

There is no Guarantee how long a battery will last, are you do very short stop start journeys ?

Thread moved OP.I'd suggest editing your post to include some paragraphs.

    Sorry I'll space this time!!

No I don't do stop start journeys, mostly school run and then some driving at the weekends.
So I don't see why my battery keeps having to be replaced every year so annoying!!

I'm lucky lol I don't feel very lucky at the minute with everything that has happened. But I'm glad that its not only my car that has lots of problems!!!

School run I am guessing is short.
The battery in them are small and it is possible the wrong type was fitted, then running the heater, rear window heater, radio, lights and so on would draw a big current off the battery.

I have seen a few where the radio does not turn off and there may be a draw on the battery from somewhere else possibly even a alarm.

School run prob about half hour drive there and back!

I was told that my alarm I have fitted into my car is not the standard Nissan alarm, so that could be the problem, and was told not to set the alarm but I have no other way of locking my car other then set the alarm.

Regarding the issue I had with it Sunday like there was no power going to it that has me worried... my boyfriend drove it today and it was fine, then drove it tonight and no power again! Can't understand why this is happening...

Seriously regretting ever buying this car in the first place as all the money I have put into it isn't worth the cost of the car not to mention that the more problems I fix the more problems pop up!!

I've tried to phrase the original post a bit for you.
It does sound like you have had heaps of issues with it but since you've invested to much work in it now hopefully the main bits will be ok.
Did you bring it in for the recalls? And let them know about the other issues?

A friend of mine has one and hasn't really reported any problems, she's in college so would do similarish mileage/journeys to you. The alarm could be a suspect for causing the battery drain if not wired up correctly. Do you have an aftermarket radio in it? I remember having one in a car a few years back and that was causing the drainage to mine.

Sounds like you've just got a bad one, they seem to be reliable enough (although changing the side light bulbs is a right pain)

BTW - Are you going to a main dealer or an independent garage for the fixes?

First recall I did, the second I only got the letter last Friday and sure my car then lost power on sunday ,so I have not brought it in yet for that.

Surely one recall is bad but two recalls isn't that saying something???

Everytime something goes wrong I pay out a fortune to get it fixed and then a few months down the line something else goes, and I end up paying more money.

I thought Nissan made good cars??? That's why I bought that car.

Everybody iv talked to about it do say that a new car only 5 6 years old should not have to get a new power steering system fitted, or new battery's every year...

Iv brought it to a few different garages when I have had problems and every time I'm told different things its the battery or its the fan belt or its this and that......

It's actually surprising the amount of recalls that occur, it's not just Nissan but any car maker from Toyota to BMW would go through similar routines of having recalls for different defects.

Are the garages you're going to reputable? I'm not saying that they're not but perhaps they could just be trying to diagnose a problem by simply blaming the battery as it's probably the first thing any garage would do. (It would be easier to replace a battery for €60 as opposed to a new alternator (€€€)

Get a recommendation off a garage off a friend or family member and take the car there if you haven't done so already.

Hope you get the car sorted.

Yes my boyfriend changed the side light bulbs and he said the same thing.

No the standard radio is in it.

If went to the Nissan garages and have got it put on the machine thing can't think what its called now, but they said no problems where showing up the other garages say oh its the battery or the fan belt.

As I said everybody tells me different things so I don't really know why or what is happening.

Most cold mornings last year I'd to get a push start just to get me and my kid to school.
Then my wipers cut out and all sorts.

Its just a nightmare of a car and I thought by buying this little car that it would be a great little car for running around but most days I can't depend on it.

Right now I can't even drive it cause I'm afraid it will just break down and I'll be stuck somewhere, when I tried to drive it Sunday it was like the thing was about knok out on me at any moment.

Yeah I think your right most little garages just try pawn you off rather then actually finding the cause of the problem but I have brought it to Nissan and they said everything was fine, which is clearly not the case.

As for recalls I know nothing about cars so didn't really know how many different cars would get recalls but you saying that has given me a little bit of hope.

So found out the latest problem with my car its the fuel pump I need a new one!
Price for new one including VAT and fitting 600e!,,

Took my car back I decided I am not paying anything else to fix that car,
Its still going its OK one min and then the next its very sluggish,I will take my chance.

I have an nct on Saturday so I will just stick it in and see what happened.

Regarding the battery I was told that the garage that put the past two times used cheap battery's that do only last about 12months give or take, which I got charged loads for thinking they where good battery's...... but I was fooled!!

Best of luck try a local indy garage and see what they can do for you
