John Deere Engines - Combine

Sorry if this is wrong section.

I dont know anything about the familys of jd engines and machinery but I have a 1992 (afaik) JD 1075 combine non-hydro.

To make a long story short she ran herself out of water in the space of 20minutes or less and overheated causing the headgasket to disintegrate. Chances are she scored some liners but she actually ran with no smoke when she cooled and was fed water on her way back to the shed. Oil is clean and never overflowed with water or ran low.

Anyways anyone ever overhauled these engines, is it wise to overbore and regrind bearings in these, i think she did valve damage too because there is a very suspicious tap coming from the head.
    Rough cost would be handy

oh and do any line of Tractors share this block/engine? Thank you

Might be worth re posting here in the diesel/ 4x4 forum

Is it 6 or 4 pots, I think that combine might be older than you think.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

It should be 6, and as you say blue 1075 was from around 1982 to 1987.
