Modifying older extension

Looking fir advice the following. 1950s flat roof extension built on to old cottage. 3.6m x 3m is the size of extension. There are 3 small rooms separated with block built walls (I imagine, I doubt it's poured concrete) one of the rooms is a downstairs loo.

This extension connects to the kitchen via the old back door. I would like to remove the internal walls, open the space to use as a dining area, and add a set of French doors to allow much needed light into the kitchen. The existing, newer back door needs to be blocked and toilet and plumbing removed.

On the wish list, and only if I could afford it, I would like to remove some of the old wall between the extension and kitchen to allow more light through/ more interaction to new dining space. This wall is 2ft thick cut stone. I would be removing approx 1.5m squared.

I am willing to contribute to labour for removing walls etc once I'm given guidance.

Any thoughts on what I can expect to pay and any expensive pit falls I might encounter? Will I need roof support if walls are removed?

    Thanks

This could be a dodgy project I would talk to a builder or engineer for their opinion. Stone walls can be unpredictable as the whole thing could collapse if not done correctly.

That definitely crossed my mind and I am reluctant to touch it because of this, and cost. It would be a shame however to have all this light flooding in to one room and the kitchen only benefitting from light coming through the widthof a door.

Any other glitches or thoughts on price?

I would hope it would be straight forward if the stone wall isn't considered

Sorry paddy, I wouldn't be able to advise on price. You would need to get professional help. I would ask a builder/stone mason to look at it first and get their thoughts. If it's not done correctly you may have all the light in the world coming into the kitchen.
