    Hi guys,

So as the title goes. I've just joined the dead pixel fan club today :eek: .
I bought My MBP Retina over a year ago so it falls into the EU 2 year seller warranty.
I bought my MBP Retina from a Compu B store on Grafton Street the day it came out. It has now got one dead pixel at the bottom right side of the screen.
I Know I'm covered for this as its a fault, but just wanted to know what Compu-B are like to deal with for warranty repairs under the 2 year EU directive. I hope I don't have to go down the whole Small claims court route. "Fingers crossed"

So has anybody had any dealings with these guys yet?

They're unbelievable good up to the point they're allowed to be, if you get me.

They're not an official Apple store, just and authorised reseller. They'll almost certainly repair it for you, might need to argue your case for the EU coverage because it's post-Applecare.

So they should do it for free, but you might have to annoy them a bit. Personally, I've always found them to be beyond helpful.

For one dead pixel you'd have trouble getting a repair/replacement within the one year Apple warranty. Outside of it and quoting some vague consumer law, I don't fancy your chances. Especially since CompuB can just say the problem developed after purchase. I'd be interested to hear how you get on though.

2 year EU directive was never implemented in full in Ireland, as the Government believe we have greater protection with the Sale of Goods and supply of Services Act.

I've bought a lot of gear from them over the last couple of years and have found them to be very good when it comes to repairs, give them a call and give them the serial number they'll tell you immediately.

Just tell them you want to make an EU warranty claim and if that does not work ask for it to be escalated to Apple - http://www.apple.com/ie/legal/statutory-warranty/

2 years is only a minimum too not a cut-off point

I have four or five dead pixels at this stage, I have the laptop just over twelve months. Anything I can do about it?

I already sent back my first MBP Retina last August due to it having dead pixels. I sort of gave up hope when my replacement also displayed two dead pixels a few weeks after its arrival. To be fair, I have got used to them by now. I don't really notice them anymore.

I am however worried that I will get more as time goes on.

From my dealings with Apple directly over dead pixels I had to have 5 or more that where clustered together to warrant action. I argued that the laptop was not 100% as it should be. I had 5 dead but not together. I got a brand new laptop. It was a MBA and only a few months old.
