So I am dipping my toe into the murky waters of boxing promotion.

Not a bad headliner with two unbeaten Irish cruiserweights in Stephen Reynolds and Declan Trainor facing each other for the Celtic Nations title.

Then some good prospects on the undercard.

I think it's an excellent headliner and a real 50/50 clash.
I expect Trainor's speed and movement to give block problems early on, but I'd imagine the Sligo man will find a way to use his experience and toughness to come back at him. I reckon Trainor will nick it close on points.
Hope Trainor doesn't cut too badly, I know he's had a problem with that in the past (losing an unlicensed fight due to it), and Reynolds does have a bit of a rough-housing style.

Good little small hall show Slap and the best of luck with your venture. Hopefully the experience doesn't scare you away doing shows in the future, boxing promotion is meant to be something you never truly realise how difficult a thing it is is till you're in there.

Edit: Also is Cacace still on the bill cause he's no longer on it on boxrec, and any word of an opponent for McMahon ?

The countdown is well and truly on, just 5 days until 'The Celtic Clash'.

Buncey gave me 5 minutes on his ESPN boxing show today to talk about the show (My bit is at 39 mins) Enjoy!

Well it all went pretty damn well. Plenty of people coming up to me saying the headliner was the best fight they've seen in an Irish ring. Gotta be pretty happy about that for my first gig!

Great fight report on BoxRec - http://news.boxrec.com/news/2013/reynolds-wins-small-hall-thriller-belfast

Good stuff. Have you any plans of doing a show in Dublin or is there a market for it?

There's a show in Dublin in November, headlined by Phil Sutcliffe Jnr fighting for the vacant Irish Light-Welterweight title vs Michael Kelly.
Undercard has Robbie Long vs Darren Cruise, Willie Casey (originally scheduled to fight Marco McCullough but that's off boxrec), Luke Keeler, Karl Brabonzon and Ryan peake.

If that show is a success you'll likely see more Dublin shows, regardless of who's promoting. The supposed problem with promoting cards in the Republic is dealing with the BUI (who apparently have quite high sanctioning fees), so promoting bills in the North under the BBBofC is much cheaper, making it easier to have a successful show.

I'd love to put my next show on in Sligo but it's much lower risk/cost in Belfast.

Sligo people would turn up in their droves to a block reynolds fight. He's well liked around the town.

I'm from Sligo Town, I've done my figures hombre, I make a loss even with a full house and the no hiccups with the show. Both of which are rear.

There's no such thing as a return bus to Belfast for a tenner. And no, they won't. If it's on their doorstep they will. If it's in Belfast they won't, unsurprisingly.
