I'm by no means an expert as I've just completed my first build.

Based on my research, I ended up with the same CPU, memory and PSU as you have selected above.

I went for the ASRock H87 Pro4 motherboard which is just a model up from yours - but your's appears sufficient for your needs. I actually nearly chose a Z87 model but, supposedly, the main thing you're paying for there is for the overclocking ability and the i5-4570 doesn't allow this anyway.

The only thing you have in this build that I would be kind of iffy about is the case. I've read reviews that state the stock fans are a little louder than what some would expect - and replacing them would see you spending as much money as you would by choosing a more expensive case to begin with.

I went for the Fractal Design Define R4, which is available for 30 euro on top of your chosen case here.

It has better fans as well as more options for adding additional fans later. One such option is the side mount, which is covered with sound proofing material that can be removed if you decide to add a fan here - which you may do if you find that your GPU is running hot (I haven't installed a GPU yet).

It also has an extra USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 port at the front. It's a very well built case but do be aware that it's pretty big - most mid-towers are big anyway but this one is a little larger than your selection.

My thoughts on the case are that it's one component that you're unlikely to need to replace in 3 or 4 years due to technology advances - you should only really need to change it if you buy wrong to begin with. That's the reason I chose to spend a little extra here to begin with.

Can I ask why people are against overclocking? It's simple to do and doesn't do any harm to the processor in any way.

Obviously, if there was a desire to overclock, it'd involve spending more money on the K version of the CPU as well as a more expensive motherboard.

Also, and in particular with Haswell, you'd want to be spending additional money on cooling if you were going down the overclock route - all for additional power that you may be perfectly happy without.

At the end of the day, it all comes down to budget. Forgetting the money spent on additional cooling for now, does the op want to pay an extra 35 euro on the CPU and an extra 30 euro on the motherboard if doing so results in them having to downgrade the GPU from a GTX 760 to a GTX 650 Ti?

Edit: Op, don't neglect to look at the GTX 670 as well - I believe it is slightly better than the GTX 760 and there are some good offers popping up every now and again on this model.

Motherboard there is more than fine for overclocking, and can buy the cooler further down the line.

Has the outlook changed since this story?

Right got a quieter case per recommendations.

Dropped the Dell monitor for this to save about 50 bills http://www.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=74649&agid=1650

And added a plantronics headset that seems to be a decent budget conscious choice

    Total price about 1100
