Voluntary PRSI Payment

My sister has been advised by her accountant that while she has no liability to PRSI as her income is less than €5,000 he advised her she could make a voluntary contribution if she wished..... Just wondering what particular benefit she would get from doing this, she's 33 and just started self employment? Thanks

Maternity benefit and a contribution towards her average for state pension, if there is one in 33 years time.
