Is it too late to sow some fertiliser? I bought a few bags 2 weeks ago as my three paddocks while have some grass they a lacking colour.

My problem is that I rely on a neighbour to do the tractor work and he has been busy so bags still at the side of the house. A friend said not to bother sowing this late. Any views on this

I have thirty ewes and two rams on @ 9 acres. I have a five round bales of hay and 7 silage. I also have 10 acres let out to fodder beet and will graze after the beet is lifted.

Is the N deadline definitely extended to end Sept?

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

Any opinions would be welcome but just wondering whether to cut the old grass on a field before I sow it. It hasn't been grazed in a few months and the grass on it is old ruff grass which hasn't been cut since last year. I'd like to sow it for hay/silage but afraid if I don't cut it there will be a ruff sole on the grass when it is due for harvesting. What do ya think anyone?

I know the story about soil testing and all the rest but what would be the best fertiliser to use to bring on good grass at this stage in the year?

    Thanks
