Its a main dealer and the mileage is low, what would you hope to pay?
Seems a bit rich, do you need automatic?

Even for a main dealer it's overpriced imo.

OP, does it have to be a 1.8 litre? Here is a year younger 1.4 TSi Highline auto for €1k more:

Unless you actually need the extra 18bhp it will be a lot easier to sell on in this country.

Yeah, and its not even a VW main dealer. I like the bit of power. I think the 1.8 litre is 60 bhp more than the 1.4 litre

The 1.8 TSi is 160bhp, the 1.4 TSi is 122bhp so 38bhp, my initial sums were wrong too. Afaik the 1.4 can be remapped too.

Imo that car is very overpriced at asking €14k, even if for some reason the dealer accepted an offer of €2k less (which I would doubt) I think you would still be paying over the odds for it. Yes, the rarity of a low mileage auto especially if is a tidy one, adds a certain premium to the price but not by that much imo. The 1.8 TSi never really sold here and any used I've seen for sale online haven't exactly being sold quickly. I'd say at €14k you'd nearly buy an A4 with the same engine. Not saying the A4 is better but just making a comparison on the price.

Thanks Bazz. Yeah the A4 is an option too.

Just on the passat 1.4 tsi with 122 bhp, is this bhp a bit low to be lugging around a big unit like the passat ?

Nope, they are perfectly fine for most people, will not win a traffic light grand prix but doesn't feel underpowered either. The best thing to do is test drive both yourself.
