Right, I am a sort of an eejit and have an interest in certain old cars and also am an e bay person.

this results in me buying stray cats off the web and bringing them home and leaving them lying around.

this Auto Union 1000 came my way (same colour as one I had as a lad, and never got it going ,before dumping it!!!! yes I am ashamed).
bought it in the Uk ,got it home and it really needs a lot of work ,but was 95 % complete.

So this week my friend ,who is handy, and who I have been friends with since this car was made, and I got stuck into attempting to start her.

With a new 6 volt battery and a can of two stroke mix, several hours were spent checking/cleaning the three sets of points and three plugs. this eventually got all three sparking.
Made a few calls to Autopimur, a Deek man off Boards. got advice, and an offer to post me new points and plugs ,to be replaced!! Deek Community spirit at its best!!!!

The fuel tank was an unknown area to us and we were not sure if the fuel pump worked, so we lifted the top off the carb and poured in fuel mix.
Quite a few fires and bangs, a few more double checks and finally a quick whip out of the plugs and ablast of a blow torch on the plugs, resulted in the yoke starting up,
a few tinkerings by Pat and he working the throttle, nice clean revs.

We had no water in it so turned it off , filled the rad and saw water pouring out of a threaded hole on front rhs of block, found a bolt, tanked up water and re started her.

We were surprised at how well it ran. I would have liked to video the start up as is often seen on you tube ,but all hands were in use.

Though the floor in parts is rotten and the bottom of the doors are bad, there are some parts of the car in good shape. Autojimur, when I asked about availability of doors ,suggested I learn to weld, or further befriend pat, who can weld. This fellow Pat, I don't think he can levitate ,but can do most other things.
