Lab created diamonds

Has anyone any experience with these?
I'd love to get one for my engagement ring. I hate the thought of feeding the diamond industry but love the look of the stones. I want to get a guilt-free ring and these sound perfect.
    Not to mention the price!

I've been looking at diamondnexus.com as this site always pops up when I google lab created stones.

    Thanks for any replies.

    Edit:
On reading more I'm aware the diamondnexus.com is not synthetic diamonds.
Can synthetic diamonds even be purchased?

Google Moissanite. As far as I know they can be bought loose or already set in a ring.

I'm not sure what speakers have to do with my question, but thanks for the input. Very helpful...

Thanks, I'll google moissanite and see what comes up.

I have a moissanite engagement ring - much for the same reasons that you're thinking of i.e. not supporting the diamond industry. I'm really happy with it.

I had it made by a jewellry-maker in America: basically this set:

but forged in sterling silver/palladium, and with a clear moissanite stone.

    Good luck in your searching!

Can you let me know what jeweler you used? I'm in the US and most options seem to be online. I'd like to look at the stones before buying.
Do you have much problems in the way of colouring of the stone?

It definitely seems to be the option for me. Or the Amora gem if I can wait til 2015!

Also, you could always buy antique or from a pawnbroker....

No problems as regards colouring the stones, AFAIR it's possible to choose the colour tonality without too many problems.

I did actually buy online - did a lot of research, settled on an idea and contacted the seller via Etsy initially. She (Lolide) is based in the Seattle area, don't know if that's any use to you.
