Hi, I need you help please!! We have been applying external insulation for the past week and currently have half the house covered with grey eps insulation boards. It has been raining the past few hours and now I'm really worried it will be damaged, we didn't get to cover it! Can anyone advise of it will be ok?? Thanks :)

How did you get on Duffers ? Are you sticking the boards or just mechanicaly fixing them to the wall ? The worst thing that could happen is that the rain would get behind the boards if they are stuck with adhesive and soften the adhesive and cause them to debond and you will be sticking them again .
What finish are you going with over them ?

Hey, we managed to get them covered a few hours later. We have stuck them with adhesive and fixings. They are still all solid stuck, was just worried about them getting wet at all as it says in manual they are not to get wet! The plinth area was damp and the row above the plinth was a bit damp. Fingers crossed though they'll be ok as we don't have the means to do it all again! We are going with an acrylic render finish. Our only other problem now is to stop the f******g birds flying at the insulation! :(

Will you be able to finish the acrylic yourself ? Its not easy . Give the boards a rasp before you go basecoating if you're worried about it sticking because the are weathered

Hi, Just wondering how you got on with the external insulation?
I have had the same work done last year but now i have leaks at the window joints. It appears to be coming in through the window bead and the window.
The contractor that fitted the external insulation has tried fixing it several times including removing the revels and refitting the window bead. He has now resorted to using silicon at all the joints, it has stopped leaking but seams a poor detail?
Has anyone come across this before?

Whereabouts at the reveals is it leaking ? Are the cills falling out enough or are they holding water ?
I dont know how the beads are letting in water because they are pretty good beads . Did he definitely use " window frame seal " beads ?
Also the heads of the reveals should be falling out towards the bead as opposed to square so the water doesnt run in against the window IYKWIM .
If you can put up a few pictures I might have a better idea whats wrong
