Property Tax and Maintenance fees

    Hi,

I don't know if this is the right place to post but I'm looking for some advice. We paid the household property tax this year and by the looks of things we will be paying €400+ next year. We live in a house in an estate with houses, townhouse and apartments. We are expected to pay a maintenance company over €300 per year. Surely if we pay the property tax we shouldn't be expected to pay this fee also? The property tax is meant to go towards maintaining private estates among many other things, so my question is are we still obliged to pay the maintenance company? Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Yes, LPT liability is unrelated to any property mgt charge.

Maintenance fee is contractual obligation with your management company, local property tax is a tax to the state. No interaction at all. The Government talking about paying for local services caused confusion. It is just a new tax to broaden our tax base.
