Rat/ water vole behaviour

    A friend holidaying in France said he saw two rodents, could have been rats or water voles, swimming across a canal. The second rodent had his mouth gripping the tail of the first and was being ferried across the water. I haven't heard of behaviour like this before. Probably a parent with one of its young.
