Here is my situation - just got price on replacement blades for my hedgetrimmer (a Zane Bluebird Industries machine - I know.... when bought it the dealer said it was a good brand - cost €370 10 years ago) and they cost €60 + vat each plus delivery :eek::eek: - my small machinery mechanic said get the two as they will be exact fit.

Well money would be better spent on a new machine but I hate waste so this is my plan - see attached pic - cut the other blade to match the surviving broken blade and although it will be only a foot of blade and then buying a cheap aldi job just for the long awkward bits . anyone done this?

Was in a similar situation but only with the last tooth and cut the blades to match.

If I was in your situation, I'd pay the €60 + vat and have it right.

Not sure I get why you need two!! The replacement for the broken one should be an exact fit anyway!

Just had email from the supplier - we recommend both blades are replaced - in other words I take the risk they dont match and end up damaging the machine and/or have to get the other new blade - doesnt make economic sense on 10 year old machine.

I still cannot understand why they wouldn't match unless there is a new model which uses blades which have teeth with a different spacing.

I'd be thinking they are trying to sell an extra blade!

Is it a warrior by any chance?

    Anyway, your call.

it is a H23E Zane - they have the newer models and I was comparing the manual pics from my machine and theirs and to me the holes are a bit off - machines dont have tolerances when it comes to moving parts and guess who will pay the price.

My message if it could get out there is to warn people off buying unknown supposedly reputable machines - how do you do that. My mechanic said a SET of blades from known brands cost €60.
