Looks interesting and great value. the max of "12 units" of alcohol is a bit crap, isn't a can like 1unit?

A 330ml one maybe. One of those 5% 500ml bottles from Lidl is 1.9 units.

I might be going blind but where are you seeing that? Barn Dance this year was byob up around the same area and there were no restrictions. Maybe its just to discourage people showing up with 2 crates, cant see them being that strict.

hope they've got whatever legal stuff properly sorted, sessions down there before have been relatively low-key, but this is being plastered absolutely everywhere....

will this be inside tents or whats the story? id imagine it will be freezing by the end of October beside a lake.

it was up on the site yesterday, but doesn't seem to be there now. they said on facebook that 12 units is "a guide" as they'd prefer people drink responsibly.

They have had festivals in glendalough before.. just never one with house or any sort of dance music really. They usually had 3000+ at them

they've had several with dance music in Glendalough House before, nothing as big as this though that i can remember.

Ah, sorry I was looking on the Glendalough website and looked like it was only rock and the likes.. No mention of banging house tunes for some reason...

THIS WEEKEND! Anyone else pumped for this Sunday? Costumes sorted? Any ideas on how many stages there'll be? How big the marquees/tents are?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,539 ✭✭✭ghostdancer

    not doing a costume [/killjoy]

i believe there's 3 stages. 1 Bodytonic one, 1 Bedlam one, possibly an Emergence one too?

    e: the website says there's 4 stages.

Bus booked for 6, now to stock up on the buckfast. Pity about the weather but they've said the stages are covered.

Do you think they would allow you on any bus or only the time you specifically booked for? (I am talking about official travel through Marathon)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 772 ✭✭✭GTDolanator

Buses are booked up,ive a ticket now and now way of getting down!!!!

why would they not provide buses for every ticket considering there is no parking!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,539 ✭✭✭ghostdancer

they're doing a walk-up service for people with no bus tickets from 8pm.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 318 ✭✭Celtic Tiger

First time i've ever prebooked a bus ticket, glad i did now. Marathon putting on the bare minimum buses looks like. I'd say theres going to be some long waits to get home if you don't leave before 2:30.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 616 ✭✭✭DisasterIRL

No, it's not. It's another event in Marley park with the same name, most of the festival is indoors.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,539 ✭✭✭ghostdancer

i had no problems going down. was on the bus and on the road 15mins after arriving at Custom House Quay. once off the bus in Glendalough was inside at the stages within 5mins.
left at about 2:20 as didn't want to be queuing with loads of people when it finished and everyone left at the same time. was on the bus within 5mins of leaving the stage, and was back in Dublin by 3:30.

No problems here either. Headed straight to the buses as soon as the music stopped though. Great night.

Quality, quality music. Brilliant craic, no sign of any trouble or troublemakers, just great fun from start to finish. The bus situation was a little odd, but maybe it was a licence arrangement or something, probobly wanted to keep all local residents on side for the first event. We left the venue ant about 2.40, got down to the bus queue just as it was starting to get a little crazy down there. Only thing that wrecked my head was the fact that you HAD to go to either dublin or Roundwood. Was very very lucky to get a taxi in roundwood.
