As the title suggests, i have a trek 7.2 bike, i believe the current tyres on the bike are 700X35C. I have had these on the bike from day one, i was looking to get a better tyre that would give me a bit more roll / speed. I think i read some where that the lowest i can go for are 700*28C tyres. Just looking for advice as to which ones to get.

Bike is used mainly for commuting 10km each day but i would like to start doing a long cycle at the weekends (my long cycle being 30km or so)

    thanks

I have the 7.3 model and put 28mm Continental Gator HardShell Tyres on - €30 a pop here: link These are as tough as old boots and very puncture resistant. The only real downside is that the rubber compound doesn't offer a lot of grip.

If you are doing any forest trail work, you may want something with some threads - I also used Schwalbe Marathon Plus Road Tyres and these were also bombproof. Available in 28mms for €32 here: link
