Yes, it was cold but I think there is life in the sun just yet! Though the weekend forecast doesn't look too dry, will have to stick on the Vuelta and envy those guys in the hot weather!

    Was cool this morning alright

I love that morning freshness. The initial chill encourages you to work a bit to get warmed up. Just perfect really, IMHO.

And so my recent purchase of Lidl Arm & Leg Warmers is validated.

Yep, I figured out the hard way this morning that bib shorts & ss jersey are inadequate for a 7am commute from here on in......

I often cough a lot after a long cycle in cold weather. All summer I've been cough free, after last wknds cycle (in yorkshire), the cough started again.
Something to do with cold air irritating the lungs I think.

Someone brought this up the other day, you can train yourself to breathe through your nose (your pace will suffer) or you can wear a buff over your mouth to act as a barrier.

I got pneumonia in January 2012 so I always take one or the other precaution.

Yikes, nasty. Thanks, I nearly always wear a buff when it gets cold, I've tried the breathing through my nose, lasted less than a minute - I'd never get enough air into me.

I use a buff around the neck when it gets cold. One of the best things i bought last winter

This cold air is hurting my sore throat. Can't train, but I'll be f*cked if I'm driving/getting-the-bus/getting-the-train to work.

Graeme Obree has a technique more to do with getting loads of air in, but including putting your tongue up to the roof of your mouth to warm the incoming air. It might help, anyway linkee: http://cyclinginfo.co.uk/blog/4182/training/obree-breathing-technique/

I recently got his book "The Obree Way", where there is a whole chapter about his breathing technique. Very interesting.

Funnily enough sun glasses. The low winter sun (when we get it) can really blind the eyes.

or one of those face masks that reminds me of a ballaclava. Cant remember the name of it....

Actually there was ballaclavas for sale in the ploughing one year and i regret not buying one, they would be very warm.

Yeah I'm going to have to buy a pair of bib tights to keep me warm. Anyone have any recommendations in that department?

Training is not everybody's cup of tea here. Some people just enjoy riding their bikes ;).

I might meet in the middle and get some leg warmers to pair with my shorts instead. Worried about them not staying in place, but it would be a cheaper option.
