Got the Cyber ghost special back a few months ago, and only paid a fiver for the year. Irish server and all, so handy for when I'm abroad.

I can pay you a fiver for your account if you are not going to use it :-)

Anybody know how long this deal is for? I have another subscription from EarthVPN which is priced similarly with more server choices but Pia have their own android app which is handy...

You can just change your dns servers in your IP settigns to get US netflix so dont have to pay for that.

In your IP settings you mean in your router IP settings? Donegal's talking about the TV app so if you change them on your laptop, you will only be able to watch it on your laptop and nowhere else.

So how does the VPN work? I guess you must have some sort of log-in when redirecting your traffic to their servers right? How do you log in? Is it much of a hassle switching between US and UK servers or is there an app that makes it easier like with TunnelBear?

    Thanks a lot,
    O.D.

    Thanks for the find Daytob!

I've been using HideMyAss VPN for the last year (Sure China, twitter is definitely a threat to your dictatorship) and it has a great selection of locations. You can choose what country, what city and what server in that city you'd like to connect to.

PrivateInternetAccess doesnt allow that level of control. Your choices are US East, US West etc plus single a few other countries (UK, Switz, Netherlands, Canada, Germany, France, Sweden, Romania). All Europe and US based unfortunately.

PIA settings in the Windows client are also incredibly limited. HMA is far better here too.

OTOH PIA has an android app unlike HMA. HMA requires you manually input an IP you'd like to connect through and log in using Android's VPN settings. PIA has a nice app that automates the process for you. This also means you arent forced to set a lockscreen on your phone to use a VPN (Although you really should)

PIA speeds seem good. I've tested a few US locations and they're saturating my 4Mb connection. HMA isnt that fast even on the fastest servers and a lot of their servers are dog slow.

All in all, a decent VPN for accessing restricted content. All they need are more server options and more control over the connection and it'd be awesome.

Cheers op. Bought the year, always wanted to try a vpn.. So now I can safely log into my internet banking while on a public wifi when using the vpn on Android?
Speeds are ok.. Was getting 15mb on my speed test on the laptop in the house,
How would I go about disabling the vpn just for when downloading
    torrents?

www.kepard.com is another good choice, been using them myself for about six months or that.

Costs 35 USD for the year, approx 27 Euro and they have a really handy app for Windows and for Android, allows the selection of country and a variety of iP adresses along with a choice of vpn protocol to connect with.

They only allow the download of torrents through their netherlands server, but I have never found this a problem as the speeds are always fine, also no download limits.

Dead handy to set up on iphone too for secure vpn connection out and about.

They also seem to run a special offer about every six months or so when they offer three months at half price. Worth keeping an eye on it, I renewed for a year about two months ago and a few weeks after they were offering one of these half price offers, I contacted them and they were sound enough to retrospectively give me an extra 3 months free as I had just missed the offer and had asked them before renewing if they had any offers planned.

The offer appears to have finished.
