Firstly, you work for FREE. You can work anywhere you want, be it a charity shop or soup kitchen to a manufacturing plant in the middle of nowhere. It's up to the employeer and school if you're able and allowed to work in the place you have chosen. It's best to go somewhere you think you will be interested to work in, even if you're not sure, it's best to try it as you'll be more clear on what you want to do in the future. If you're interested in being a hairstylist or beautician, then maybe go to the local hairdressers, give them your CV and ask them if they will take you in for two weeks, 5 hours a day. Your school has 2-4 weeks in total throughout the year which is dedicated to WORK EXPERINCE, during this time, you will not go to school but instead work in a job. Whatever you do, you MUST tell the TY co-ordinator in your school.

You should make a CV. Just put your contact details (e-mail, phone number etc) and your Junior Cert results. Not to mention your hobbies too, and some skills you would have (Microsoft office etc).

Getting a Part-Time job is a different story. I would suggest to wait till you're 16, if you're not 16 yet. Many retailers and supermarkets such as Tescos accept 16+ year olds for Part-Time. But you know Ireland is in the s hit hole now so it's going to be extremely hard to find a Part-Time job.

For the "Cover Letter", you should just explain why you think you're well suited for the job.

Overall, ASK YOUR TY CO-ORDINATOR FOR HELP.

    :)
