    Hi All

I am hopin some of ye can answer a few questions in relation to tis scheme

I am on Illness Benefit over 2 years now, I have a few chronic conditions. I am toying with the idea of trying to return to work to see if I can manage both work and illness.

Question 1. When applying do you have to have a job in mind
Question 2. Does the potential employer fill in a form or is it just your GP
Question 3. If your GP fills in the form and the employer doesn't have to can you take up any job.
Question 4. Does it look bad if it is full time but job lasts 2 month contract. This would suit me I would not like to take up a long term position just in case I cannot manage it. It is just to trial myself to see if I can do it.

Question 5 If I send off the form from my GP does anybody know how long I would be waiting for a response whether allowed or not. Is it within the week or could I be waiting weeks for a decision.

Last question If I am awarded the PCB do I have to tell my potential employer that I am receiving this. Say if someone was suffering from depression it would look great to be telling a new employer

    Thanking ye in advance

    1) generally yes.
    2)Dont know
3)Once you are assessed re your disability level you may take up any job you like.
4)with the PCB system you may work for as long as you are able.
    5)It will take several weeks.
6)what you tell your employer is your business but your PCB payment will have to be taken into account for tax purposes.I m presuming you need to inform the payroll section of you extra income.

Thank you mp22 for your answers.

    Just to confirm the steps involved in applying;
First ask the Dept that you wish to apply as you cannot go for interviews unless you get permission to apply for jobs.(I have been asked by a company to work for them but if it takes a month or so for a response from the Dept, its a no go as I would have to explain to them why I wouldn't be able to start earlier and I feel that this would put them off hiring me. I know I will get responses like its better to be honest but my illness is personal and would not like it to be everyone's business. also the company may not want to take me on, especially when there are a lot of other candidates in the current climate)
Wait for a response yes or no from them.
If successful apply for the job
Of course you would let the HR dept know your tax credits etc. but would it show up that you are on illness benefit.

Has anyone being successful on applying for this scheme?
