social welfare cheques

    im working part time so the social welfare will be sending me out a cheque every Tuesday, im just wondering will I be able to get it changed in the post office or do I have to put it in the bank and if so how many days does it take to clear

    Post office should cash it for you or your local supermarket (maybe)

    can anyone confirm this? im not from the area but have collected my dole in the local post office for a while before I got the part time work.. also when you apply for the casual work how long after will you get the first cheque? only makeinng 130 a a week working so I need these cheques to come as soon as possible

    You can cash the cheques in the post office. You will need your PPS card and maybe ID.
    The change over can take 2-3 weeks. You are paid in arrears on casual this causes some of the delay.
