So I just watched the very last episode of Futurama. Comedy central cancelled the show and this was its 3rd finale ( I think). The first few seasons are amongst the best tv shows ever but it got progressively worse after the movies. Its improved towards the end with some great episodes but I honestly think it ran a bit too long for its own good. One of my favourite shows ever and hopefully Matt Groening will retire the Simpsons soon aswell..

Had there been new episodes on sky lately

Nope. Its comedy central now so I doubt sky will show them. I just downloaded them at a mates house. The last was on last night.

Season 8 was on sky during the year

I liked it but I would have preferred a 40 minute ep and not one about Fry and Leela. That's one of the things that put me off Futurama in the first place. Their storyline is boring and repetitive. Jokes were still good in this but I could have sworn that the Simpsons already did it.

I've only watched maybe 2 or 3 of the 'new' eps so I don't know how it matches against them

Aye. In it's prime Futurama was great. Funny but could absolutely turn you into a crying mess.

Watched the last episode earlier too, wasn't great, but did feel like an ending at least.

In general I've loved the last season though. At times it has been back to it's best with some very funny bits, some of them genuinely clever, and a couple of moments that get you right in the feels too.

You can still watch a Futurama/Simpsons crossover episode in a few years' time.

Brilliant show! Can't believe it ended. I have a funny feeling it was continued out of the want of money rather than the want to end a show on a high.

Is there a sadder moment in cartoon history, particularly when you know the context, than the dog waiting for Fry

I read that Groening wants to make more. If another American network picks it up.

No idea how they'd pick up from where it finished though..

There is a crossover due in the upcoming Simpsons season, they have already done a comic book cross over which worked very well. Bit pissed that the Seymour episode didn't really happen before the end. Loved the last episode intro "Avenge Us" written in blood.

That dog episode is based on a true story.....which is pretty amazing.
