Anyone out there recommend good place for getting custom fitted for golf clubs in the Donegal/Derry/Sligo area.
I see McGuirks in Dublin have trackman, that would be nice but would prefer not to travel.
Nevada Bobs are in letterkenny but not sure what kind of service they provide, anyone use them before?
Anyone know what to look out for to ensure you are getting a good service when custom fitting?

What about Golf Store Europe beside Foyle Golf Club in Derry, they have a trackman and they do fittings for £25 per hour, with the £25 taken off any club purchases after the fitting.
I'm planning on heading for a driver fitting next week.

This is great news, didn't know there was a trackman so close, not listed on the trackman location map, maybe you should mention that to them.
Let me know how you get on with your fitting?

Anyone else have a fitting with this company, any reviews welcome?

Bought my putter there. Not the same as irons or woods but the place is as well laid out as any of the usual suspects.

When I was over chatting to them, they showed me an example printout from a random persons fitting. Had swing speed, ball speed, spin, launch angle, etc from different drivers he had hit. I assume that's a Trackman????

Was at the driver fitting today, about an hour hitting all different drivers and what was the result??? My old driver works best for me:D

Have to say it was well worth the £25. I started out with a quick chat to the guy doing the fitting, how do you hit your current driver, what's your bad shot, what shot do you want to achieve etc. Then I started hitting my own driver for about 10 balls to get warmed up, then he turned on the FlightScope and I hit another 5/6 balls. From that he started pulling out heads and shafts that he though would be suitable based on the figures. He recommended 10.5, reg 55g shaft and face 1or2' closed, my current driver is 9.5, reg 60g shaft and square face.

So he picked the R1, G25, X Hot and Amp drivers (he had loads more there to choose from), hit each one about 5/6 times and discussed the results. The G25 and Amp were completely dismissed, just didn't feel good and the figures backed it up. Of the R1 and the X Hot the X Hot felt more forgiving but the figures put the R1 almost 20 yards further and a tighter dispersion.

During this he also gave me a couple of tips on alignment and ball position, which really helped and was an added bonus. So we continued on hitting ball with the R1, the X Hot and my old Adams (FAST 12LS) driver. The final results were the R1 came first, my old Adams second and the X Hot third. The difference between the R1 and the Adams were; My longest drive was with the Adams but the longest average drives were with the R1, dispersement were similar but that's down to my swing more than anything else (both a bit erratic).

All in all, well worth the money and great to try new clubs. One thing I would say is, I though once we pick the a suitable head, loft etc, he would have tried a few different shafts. Maybe I should just trust his opinion, but he said the 55g stock reg TM shaft is best for me and no point trying anything else, I kind of figured a few different reg shafts might have produced different results.

Good to hear you had a successful session.
I think I'll give them a go myself. I was in Bobs and they just have 3 types of irons in on stands and they just tried to push me the Callaway. They're webpage shows loads of different types but they only seemed to have fitting equipment in this store for callaway. I asked about Mizuna but they said they don't do them but they are on their webpage!! Not sure what is going on there maybe they are just trying to get rid of some callaway either way I would like to try a min of 3 types/manafacturers of irons (with differnt lies and flex) to get a good idea of the differences.
