Can you confirm on what basis this race is AAI sanctioned?

No more than an e-mail from the organiser stating same.

Apologies, re read the e-mail, that should be IAAF certified not AAI certified. Have amended my other post to reflect same.

Just to clarify. Events can only be "IAAF Certified" if they have sought and received such certification through the National Governing Body for the sport of Athletics in Ireland i.e. the AAI. (In reality IAAF certification is reserved for World Championship and other international events and such-like)

No application for, nor approval of, a permit was received by the Meath County Board for this event. Neither would it have been granted for the date in question, coming as it does within 5 days of two other permitted events within the county.

This is not meant to be an affront to, nor a criticism of, the OP, who is not acting as an agent for the event, but rather posting information felt relevant to the readers of this forum.

    Caveat emptor.

I'd love any info you have, if you would be so kind! I'm doing the 4k fun run as my first ever (ahem, competitive)run and I'm bricking it, though I'm pushing to 5.5k at the moment.

    Mucho thankies!

No bother, both races start outside the Community centre in Summerhill and go through the village, you turn left at Shaws pub heading for Rathmolyon. Its all flat so dont be worrying about hills. As you go out the Rathmolyon Rd you can see the road in front of you for a good km. About 2k into the race you go up a short, sharp climb and then make a turn around a bollard which brings you right down a small side road. Its all flat along here to a t-junction, turn left here and its straight ahead and flat to the finish at the Community centre again.

You're a star, thank you so much. I actually know the route fairly well, not that I've run it but relations living around the area, family visits and the like, that'll aid the familiarity a bit.

Looks like there is going to be a new addition to the list next year, Trim AC 10 mile is scheduled for Sunday 1st of February 2015. Its on same day as the John Treacy 10 mile in Waterford, it'll save people traveling if it does go ahead. Limited details on Trim AC website about it.

Trim AC 10 mile definitely going ahead on Sun 1st February, details will be up soon. Should be a good one and if Braveheart is anything to go by it will be well organised.

Any idea of course or profile?
the Dungarvan 10m is fairly flat - no idea what the profile around Trim is like.
