I currently have 2 Creda storage heaters in my apartment.

1 large heater in the sitting room and a smaller heater in the hall.

Both heaters are approximately 12 years old and in need of updating.

There is no gas or oil supply to the apartment block so thats not an option .

Can anyone recommend an option here - do I just have to go for a newer storage heater OR could there be another option ?

    Farho heaters.
They are excellent. Fitted loads of them & had nothing but good reviews back from clients. Very cheap to run.

Just make sure you go for the thermostatic ones.

Thanks. Are they storage heaters or something else ?

No, they are on-demand heaters. Very quick to heat a room & being thermostatically controlled, they switch off automatically when room temperature is achieved.

Mmmm. Do these have the big blocks of stuff inside them or are they a tidier operation.

    No.
Google them. Most electrical suppliers are doing them now.

    Thanks again.
Now another question. I am looking at the lucht radiators and they have "input/output" figures quoted.

These range from 0.5 KW - 1.8 KW

In Lehman terms what is the difference between a 0.5 KW and 1.8 KW

Like does the 1.8 KW produce more heat than a 0.5 KW ?
Presume the 1.8 costs more to run ?
Would the 1.8 take longer to heat than a 0.5 ?

Sorry for stooped questions but I know nothing on the matter

    I don't know those ones.
1.8kw will be very large & cost a lot more to run. They should have a sizing chart for the room size you are installing it in.
Cost to run 1.8kw for one hour continuously would be approx 32 cent.
Cost to run 0.5kw for one hour continuously would be approx 9 cent.

    Thanks yet again.
My room is 18 foot long and 12 foot wide

What KW do you think would be acceptable for this size room ?

It will depend on the manufacturer's specification.

    Farho would be the 1.2kw - 1.4kw.

with Lucht and my size of room they are recommending the 1.8 Kw one, see attached image below and highlighted

Will this 1.8 kw fleece me with cost to run ?

    Are they thermostatically controlled?
If not, why not go for the Farho?
To work out running costs, multiply the cents I have you by the number of hours you will have it on for.
If thermostatically controlled then the number of hours will come down depending on the level of insulation in your home.
