Measure rim wear accurately

    Saw the ad for the cosmic wheels with rim wear and it reminded me of this:

    I bought one recently and it measures the rim thickness very accurately. Although most rims now have indicators built in many do not. I believe it is generally advised that you do not ride on a rim that has less than .9mm of metal around the braking surface. Having had a front rim explode descending the devils glen once and getting away with it I had no intention of letting it happen again. Ironically Dentists use this tool :).
